United Way Community Kick Off
We’ll kick off this year’s community fundraising campaign with family-friendly activities, volunteering and a chance to sample all United Way has to offer.
Wednesday, August 21 | 2:30 – 4:00 pm | Breese Stevens Field
Enter at Gate #1 at corner of Patterson and East Wash
At this year’s Explore United carnival, you can get a free United Way Volunteer t-shirt, participate in games and activities for prizes, enjoy snacks (including Kona Ice, Tricky Foods and Girl Scout Cookies!), learn about our community and how you can get involved, and create Paper Product ImPacks to be distributed to local families through our nonprofit partners.
Bring your friends, family and neighbors to be a part of the change. Together, we are The Power of Caring. Working for All.
Parking is available in nearby lots/garages and on the street. South Livingston Street Garage is recommended and you can view all options online here: www.breesestevensfield.com/parking-map
Volunteer at Kickoff!
Paper Product ImPacks
Help us create 3,000 Paper Product ImPacks at this event to distribute to our neighbors through Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin, Porchlight, Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin and WayForward Resources.
When Dane County families have essential supplies, our whole community is healthier and stronger. Paper products (paper towels and toilet paper) are rarely donated and always needed. Food and nutrition assistance programs do not cover these essential items, so families may have to choose between paying for rent or buying essentials.
Notes of Encouragement
Support local students by writing notes of encouragement! Last year, United Way of Dane County distributed more than 22,000 Healthy Snack ImPacks. Our goal is to write 1,000 notes at Community Kickoff to include with this year’s Healthy Snack ImPacks.
For children, food security impacts education – children who are hungry are more likely to have behavioral issues, repeat a grade or miss school entirely.
Food Pantry Donation Drive
Bring non-perishable food to donate! These items will benefit individuals who are supported by local food pantries and nonprofits. When Dane County families have access to affordable, nutritious food, our whole community is healthier and stronger. Food security means improved health, more stability and sets the stage for future well-being. Thank you for participating!
