R. Kelly Hospitalized After Alleged Overdose: Legal Team Claims Prison Plot to Kill Him

In a shocking development, R. Kelly’s lawyer says the singer was given a near-lethal dose of medication while in solitary confinement at a North Carolina prison. According to court documents, the incident occurred just days after Kelly’s team filed a motion accusing prison staff of conspiring to harm him. Kelly was reportedly rushed to Duke University Hospital, where he was diagnosed with blood clots in both lungs and legs.

Despite the severity of his condition, Kelly was allegedly removed from the hospital against doctors’ advice and returned to solitary. The emergency motion filed on June 16 is the third attempt to secure his release to home confinement, this time citing immediate threats to his life.

His legal team also points to a sworn affidavit from another inmate, who claims a prison plot exists to kill Kelly—allegedly involving white supremacist groups and corrections officials. Kelly is said to be living in inhumane conditions, too afraid to eat and isolated without phone access.

The court is now being asked to act fast before this goes from crisis to catastrophe.
