Young Thug Wants to Ditch Rap for Streaming, Teases ‘Uy Scuti’ With Spiders & Subliminals
Young Thug might be trading the mic for a webcam. During a livestream with Adin Ross, the YSL rapper joked that he’s considering quitting music to become a full-time streamer after seeing the money Ross is raking in. “I’m telling ya, I’m done rapping and gonna start streaming,” Thug said, clearly impressed by the freedom and chaos of the streamer lifestyle.
But music fans shouldn’t worry just yet. Thug is still in rollout mode for his next project, Uy Scuti. While he’s kept the release date under wraps, Thug’s been making noise with a bizarre—and slightly terrifying—promo tactic: media packages containing live spiders, accompanied by a note that reads, “Take care of me until we reach UY SCUTI.”
The first single, “Money on Money” featuring Future, already stirred drama. Lyrically, Thugger seems to be taking shots at a former YSL member who accepted a plea deal in their ongoing RICO case. Lines like “Brother, you a rat,” have only intensified speculation about internal tension.
In a GQ interview, Thug was tight-lipped: “I don’t know,” he said when asked about their current relationship.
So is he serious about quitting rap? Maybe not yet—but if he does, he’s already got the clout to stream full-time.
