Tyler, The Creator Declares He Wants Podcasts Banned

Tyler, The Creator is fed up. In a no-holds-barred interview with The Cut, the Odd Future frontman declared war on podcast culture, saying he wants to ban podcasts altogether. For Tyler, podcasts have become a breeding ground for loud, misinformed voices with nothing to offer but hot takes and attention-seeking rants.

“Everybody with a mic is crazy,” Tyler said. “I think we give a lot of people who aren’t smart and just want attention platforms to be loud and incorrect, and other stupid people follow them.” Instead of another wave of wannabe pundits, he says the world needs more skilled tradespeople—painters, electricians, teachers.

Still, he gave a respectful nod to a few podcasts that break the mold, like Deante Kyle and The Cutting Room Floor. But overall? Tyler’s over it. In fact, he once said his first move as president would be to confiscate podcast microphones nationwide.

That’s not all. He also took issue with white artists mocking hip-hop, specifically pointing at a rapper resembling Ian for parodying legends like Future and Gucci Mane. Unlike artists such as Mac Miller or Eminem, Tyler says this new wave feels fake and disrespectful. For someone who treats rap like a sacred craft, he’s not here for the mockery.
