Madison’s Black Restaurant Week Spotlights Big Eats & Chicago Style Hoagies
Madtown’s favorite celebration of flavor is back! Black Restaurant Week returns August 10–17, marking ten years of spotlighting Black-owned culinary excellence in Madison. This year, all eyes are on two standout newcomers: Chicago Style Hoagies and Big Eats, LLC—both bringing bold, soulful flavor to the Food Taste Jamboree on Sunday, August 10 at Warner Park.
Chicago Style Hoagies: A Taste of the Windy City in Madtown
Yanni, owner of Chicago Style Hoagies, is bringing authentic Windy City flavor straight to Madison. Originally from Chicago, Yanni decided to recreate a staple from her hometown and share it with Wisconsin foodies—and it’s been a hit ever since.
At the Food Taste Jamboree, she’ll be serving up 3-inch hoagies stacked with turkey, ham, or salami—simple, dry, and delicious. But don’t sleep on the dessert: her famous no-box, no-bake banana pudding is stealing the show and sure to be a crowd favorite.
💬 “People from Chicago already know what’s up. Now, Madison’s catching on.” – Yanni
Find her on DoorDash, Uber Eats, and at FEED Kitchens, where she continues to grow her following through word of mouth and pop-up events.
Big Eats, LLC: Louisiana Flavor with a Madison Hustle
Sam, owner of Big Eats, LLC, is just two months into the Madison food scene and already making major noise. A Louisiana native with a passion for cooking, Sam left behind a transportation business to pursue what he loves most: creating food that brings people joy.
On the menu for Black Restaurant Week’s kickoff event? The fan-favorite Hood Fried Rice, along with barbecue and steak wraps packed with peppers, onions, and melted mozzarella. He’s also known for gumbo, shrimp po’ boys, red beans and rice, and hot sausage sandwiches—all straight from the soul.
💬 “Watching people come back for seconds, seeing the smiles—it’s why I do what I do.” – Sam
You’ll find Big Eats parked at 4112 Milwaukee Street, next to Kwik Trip, or follow him on Instagram @BigEats__LLCfor locations and specials. Call-in orders welcome.
