Live Nation CEO Wants Fans to Pay More: Billionaire Says Concert Tickets Are ‘Too Cheap’

Live Nation’s CEO Michael Rapino thinks concert tickets are too cheap. Yes, too cheap. He recently claimed fans “under appreciate” live music and should get used to paying more, comparing Beyoncé tickets to $70,000 Knicks courtside seats. That take didn’t sit well with fans, who already know the pain of Ticketmaster’s monopoly.

Here’s the truth, the average U.S. concert ticket already costs around $83, with stadium shows near $129. Toss in dynamic pricing and scalpers, and those numbers skyrocket. Rapino justifies it by pointing to “Super Bowl level” productions, like Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour traveling with 62 trucks of gear. Sure, it’s a spectacle, but fans argue accessibility matters more than bragging rights.

Concerts should bring people together, not divide them by income. When a billionaire CEO tells fans they’re not spending enough, it doesn’t sound like love for music, it sounds like a hustle.
