Young Thug’s “UY SCUTI” Projected for Disappointing First-Week Sales

Young Thug’s UY SCUTI was supposed to mark a triumphant return after the longest trial in Georgia’s history had him tied up and fans begging for new music. But early projections paint a disappointing picture. According to DJ Akademiks and HITS Daily Double, the album is only expected to move 48,000 first-week units, including just 2,000 pure sales. That would slot it at number seven on the Billboard 200, well behind releases from Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Mariah Carey, and Cardi B.

For an artist whose 2019 album So Much Fun opened with 131,000 units, this drop is glaring. Fans cite several issues — repetitive beats, lack of variety, and legal distractions that overshadowed the music. The most polarizing choice, though, is the controversial cover art showing Thug in “whiteface.” While Thug insists it was a tongue-in-cheek way to push cultural narratives, many listeners found it off-putting rather than provocative.

Commercially, UY SCUTI lands somewhere in the middle of Thug’s catalog, close to projects like JEFFERY and Beautiful Thugger Girls. But in a market where cultural moments often fuel streaming dominance, Thugger’s latest effort feels muted — a reminder of how much context, controversy, and timing can shape an album’s impact.
