Drake Breaks Michael Jackson Billboard Record With Historic 10 Year Album Run
Drake just added another massive accomplishment to a career already filled with chart domination. The Toronto superstar officially broke a major Billboard 200 record previously connected to Michael Jackson after his 2016 album Viewsreached 520 total weeks on the chart.
That achievement now makes Drake the first artist in Billboard 200 history to have THREE different albums remain on the charts for more than a decade each. The historic moment became official on May 12, 2026, when Views climbed back into the Top 40 at No. 36.
The accomplishment is another reminder that Drake’s run in music has been unlike anything the streaming era has ever seen.
His catalog continues performing at a level most artists cannot touch years after release. Take Care remains his longest charting album with an incredible 687 weeks on the Billboard 200. Meanwhile, Nothing Was the Same recently crossed the 520 week threshold in April 2026. With Views now joining the list, Drake officially moves ahead of Michael Jackson in this specific category.
Before Drake’s new milestone, Michael Jackson held the record among male solo artists with two projects staying on the Billboard 200 for more than 520 weeks. Those releases included the legendary Thriller album and The Essential Michael Jackson compilation.
The comparison between Drake and Michael Jackson has followed Drake for years. The two artists are currently tied with 13 Billboard Hot 100 number one songs by a male solo artist. Drake has referenced Michael multiple times throughout his career, including collaborations using unreleased Jackson vocals and bars directly addressing the race for music history.
What makes Drake’s success unique is how dominant he has remained through the evolution of streaming culture. Entire generations of artists have come and gone while his older albums continue pulling millions of streams every single week. Whether fans view him as the GOAT or not, the numbers continue putting him in conversations once reserved for untouchable legends.
At this point, Drake is no longer just chasing music history. He is actively rewriting it.
