Greg Tecoz, aka G Fresh, is gaining national radio momentum with his single “I Can Feel It.” The artist joined DJ Fusion on 93.1 JAMZ to talk about the success of the record, his unusual recording process and his upcoming EP, 12 Months Sober.

93.1 JAMZ was an early supporter of “I Can Feel It,” which has continued to expand at rhythmic radio. At the time of the interview, Greg Tecoz was coming off a week as the No. 1 most-added record at Mediabase, with “I Can Feel It” climbing into the Rhythmic Top 40.

“I’m so grateful. So, so grateful,” Tecoz told DJ Fusion.

Greg Tecoz Recorded “I Can Feel It” in One Take

Despite the growing success of “I Can Feel It,” Greg Tecoz says the song wasn’t carefully written and rewritten in the studio. He recorded it in one take.

Tecoz explained that after choosing a beat, he doesn’t want to hear it again until he’s inside the booth.

“You hear the beat, your soul has something to offer, and it just flows,” Tecoz said.

It’s a recording process he has used for roughly six or seven years.

Greg Tecoz has been making music for approximately 20 years, working as both an artist and producer. His musical interests reach beyond traditional hip-hop and R&B, and he describes his evolving sound as “pop-hop,” a fusion of pop and hip-hop without strict creative rules.

“I Can Feel It” is also setting the stage for Greg Tecoz’s upcoming EP, 12 Months Sober.

The project will reveal a more personal side of G Fresh. Tecoz described 12 Months Sober as “the blueprint of how I got sober.”

Before ending his interview with DJ Fusion, Tecoz offered advice to independent artists based on his own two decades in music.

His first rule is consistency. His second is even simpler:

“If it ain’t fun, run.”

“If you don’t like the music you’re doing and you’re forcing it, it’s not going to happen for you,” Tecoz said. “You’ve got to do the stuff that’s fun.”
